Sierra Nevada World Music Festival 2008, Celebrating 15 Years!

Created by Epiphany Artists as an annual world peace and summer solstice celebration in the Sierra Nevada mountain region, the 15th Sierra Nevada World Music Festival takes place for the third year in the scenic Anderson Valley at the Mendocino County Fairgrounds in Boonville, California on June 20, 21, & 22, 2008.

Unfolding over three days on two stages and in the late night dance hall, the following is the current lineup as of April 30th. Please visit www.snwmf.com for artist bios and sound samples as well as additional artists to be added in the coming weeks.

FESTIVAL DETAILS:

The event takes place at the Mendocino County Fairgrounds, 14480 Highway 128, Boonville, California, 95415, just 35 minutes West of Ukiah. Three day tickets are available now for $135 through mail order at http://www.snwmf.com/tickets.html and at the Independent Ticket outlets listed at http://www.snwmf.com/ticketoutlets.html. Camping passes are available by mail order and at select ticket outlets for $50, with one ticket required per vehicle. Single day tickets will be available in the weeks closer to the event at the ticket outlets and at the gate.

This June, summer solstice weekend - June 20, 21, & 22, 2008 marks the 15th anniversary of the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival, an annual world peace and summer solstice celebration. The event takes place in the picturesque Anderson Valley of Boonville, California at the Mendocino County Fairgrounds located 35 minutes west of Ukiah.

The festival organizer, Epiphany Artists has announced the preliminary lineup of artists with many to be added over the coming weeks. Some of the world's greatest world, roots, vintage, dancehall, and modern reggae, ska artists and sound system DJ's have made their appearances on the Sierra Nevada stages and in the dancehall over the years. Many of these artists make their debut festival appearances at this hallmark event.

The 2008 Sierra Nevada World Music Festival lineup includes:

WindDance will be a freaky, funky, dance-till-u-drop, weekend-long campout, @ the Woodlands in Mendocino.
Presented by eCo-sound-systems-productions (+ friends), and hopefully (if everything works out logistically and financially)...
full of great music and funky people like I and I, U, and So, and the rest of this crazy state we call 'Cali' !

It is based on the many festivals that I go to...Raindance (2x)...Earthdance (2x)...ROTR (9x) ......Sierra Nevada World Music Fest....the REAL GOODS PARTY, and the many other camps that already go on @ the woodlands.

EXCEPT THIS ONE IS DIFFERENT... in that it will be organised by someone w/ a degree in FORESTRY & NATURAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT and a focus in SUSTAINABLE DESIGN) !!!

MY intention is to:
REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE...COMPOST, and then RECYCLE some more !
use solar powar (where feasible...near the north coast) !
alt. fuels (e.g. biodiesel) !
Minimize cars, parking, traffic, air pollution, water pollution (through runoff/erosion and leaky vehicles) !
Encourage the sharing of ideas, art, and music, through shows, speeches, forums, &/or workshops!
Provide food and crafts from the many local companies that are doing wonderful things in the area (e.g. Mendo Mate, Thanksgiving Coffee, the Twist in Mendo [all online]).!
Feed people orgaincally, from small local suppliers, w/ the delicasies of Good Thyme Herb Co. and Catering (see online)
NOTE: needs a minimum # of ppl. committed. !
Donate a portion of the PROFIT to the Mendocino Woodlands volunteer and environmental education programs &/or road/camp improvement and erosion control projects !
Mitigate (a fancy word for reduce/eliminate) environmental impacts!
In short, make this a 'Leave No Trace Event' (see online),

I hope you all can dig it, and would appreciate any comments or contacts that you may have.

Who is holding it down like midnite? No one comes even close to the strength and lyrical content, delivery of the vibes with flip rocking the bass so heavy it could cause an earthquake, ron bouncing all about and skanking the keys, abjah playing a blues riff, dion so steady rocking the drop you dont even notice till you see him dancing on the kit, and vaughn summoning the spirit and baptizing the crowd, nothing like it, cant wait to hang out with them again, brought my bible and held a reasoning, smoking herbs and listening to unrealeased midnite in the background BLESSED, going to st croix to see the real thing BIG UP, BLESS
